Soft furnishings for your house

Soft furnishings may include cushions, throws, curtains, drapes, rugs, bedding etc, etc and come in a wide variety of materials such as cotton, nylon, suede, leather, velvet, silk, or denim. These items and materials can be bought in most high streets, or if you prefer, grab the sewing machine and make some of your own ideas come to life. There are patterns galore in home-related magazines and free ideas off the Internet at any hour of the day. All it takes is a little bit of dedication and elbow grease.

A throw will help to protect your settee from dirty hair and is easily washed. Using denim and twill for slipcovers or upholstery is other good idea as they are both durable and comfortable.

Rugs....

Rugs on the floor in the living room can really add a subtle finish to the room and will lend that extra cosiness. They are also great for lounging on when lying by the fire on a cold winter's night watching TV. If you're going to go for one, a shag-pile is the creme de la creme, especially the double dyed New Zealand wool type. They can be cut to a height of 70mm, easy to lose a cat in!

Long, swooping drapes in the bedroom; a thick tog duvet for long nights in the midst of winter; satin or silk sheets for the bed; and a whole parade of fluffy cushions will really finish off a bedroom. Oh, and Don't forget that foam topper on top of the mattress!
